About This Event

Join Ben Buchanan, School of Advanced International Studies assistant professor and former White House special adviser for artificial intelligence, for a conversation on AI and national security with David E. Sanger, White House and national security correspondent for The New York Times. The two will discuss Buchanan's new book The Bitter Struggle: Superintelligence, Superpowers, and the Fate of the World. AI is becoming the decisive strategic technology of this century. Built by the private sector, it has profound implications for governments-and for all of us. Can the U.S. keep China from catching up in AI development, or do export controls just buy time? What happens when a handful of AI labs hold capabilities no government can match? And what if the hardest challenge is not between democracies and autocracies but at home, in the fight to make sure AI lives up to our democratic values? n Policy,Government \+ Policy
