About This Event

As part of Loyola University Maryland’s Bunting Peace and Justice Speaker Series, Kyle Whyte, Ph.D., will present “Beyond Reserves: Indigenous Peoples and Energy Justice” on Monday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in McGuire Hall West in the Andrew White Student Center. The talk will examine environmental justice and the ethical challenges Indigenous peoples face in climate change, conservation, and relationships with scientific institutions. Whyte is a professor at the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability and a citizen of the Potawatomi Nation. He conducts research on environmental justice, moral and political issues faced by Indigenous peoples, climate change, and conservation. Previously, Whyte served on the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council and the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Advisory Committee on Climate Change and Natural Resource Science.
