About This Event

INVISIBLE INHERITANCE: WHAT THE ARCHIVES MAKE VISIBLE ----------------------------------------------------- Saturday, October 31, 2026 2:00PM–3:30PM AYE Gallery + Altar Studio Free with RSVP | _Limited Space_ **What do you inherit from the people and places that came before you? What traces will you leave for those who come after?** Presented during the closing day of Invisible Institutions, an exhibition by Leon Willis, Invisible Inheritance is a participatory archival workshop facilitated by Jasmine Gossett. Together, we’ll explore the objects, stories, practices and places through which memory connects the past, present and future. Participants are invited to bring one item that connects them to a familial, communal, intellectual or cultural lineage. It might be a photograph, letter, recipe, recording, document, book, digital file or another meaningful trace of where you come from. Your item does not need to be old, rare or formally preserved. What matters is the story, relationship or history it holds. **Through guided reflection, storytelling and hands-on preservation practices, we’ll consider:** • What has been entrusted to us? • What places, practices and stories have helped us survive and remember? • What should last? • What do we want future generations to know or inherit? Bring an item with a story and come curious about what it might make visible. **ABOUT THE FACILITATOR** Jasmine Gossett is a cultural worker and strategic communications leader whose work examines how people understand and preserve the histories, institutions and places shaping their lives. Through historical research, oral history and archival practice, she explores what gets documented, whose voices endure and how collective memory influences identity and belonging. **ABOUT THE EXHIBITION** Invisible Institutions by Leon Willis is on view at AYE Gallery + Altar Studio from October 2 through October 31, 2026. This workshop is free and space is limited. Please RSVP only if you expect to attend. If your plans change, email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) as soon as possible so we can make your seat available to someone else.
