Join this Friday flow to practice the foundations of yoga with options for accessible variations and playful challenges. This class is an invitation to be present on your mat, reconnect with your breath, and find balance between sthira \(effort\) and sukham \(ease\). This is a welcoming space for all levels - newcomers will find the instructor’s cues to be clear while those with experience will feel affirmed as they deepen their practice. Classes are rooted in the spirit of cultivating awareness of the self and our connection to the world around us. What to bring: Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Yoga is typically practiced barefoot, so no special footwear is required. If you are new to yoga, arrive a few minutes early to get settled and speak with the instructor. Neha Singhal \(she/her\) was born in India and raised in Maryland. She sees yoga as an integral part of her life on the journey toward healing and liberation through the connection of mind, body, and spirit. As a reflective practitioner, she is committed to the yogic principle of svadhyaya \(self-study\) and centers self-awareness in her classes to encourage students to approach their own practice with curiosity, humility, and compassion. With a strong belief in accessibility, she has been teaching weekly community classes open to all at Wheaton Library for the past three years after earning her 200-hr RYT credentials. Neha is also a history educator and deeply engaged working in community toward a world free of racism, casteism, sexism, and other forms of oppression. Friday Flow: Weekly Unwind is a weekly yoga class offered most Friday evenings. Pre-registration is required. Please check the calendar for upcoming dates. This event takes place at Willow Grove Cultural Commons. Willow Grove is part of the Sandy Spring Museum's main building, but has its own entrance. From the parking lot, proceed past the museum's front door down the cement walkway until you reach the red stone plaza. Sandy Spring Museum, Inc. is supported in part by funding from the Maryland State Arts Council \(msac.org\), the Montgomery County Government, and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County.
