About This Event

This introductory training provides an overview of intimate partner violence, including what abuse can look like and how to effectively support and empower victims and survivors. Abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, and cultural abuse. The presentation will also explore trauma-informed ways to respond when someone discloses their experience with intimate partner violence, including compassionate and validating statements such as, “I’m sorry that happened to you,” “What can I do to help?” and “It’s not your fault.” Participants will gain practical tools and greater confidence to respond to disclosures in ways that promote safety, empowerment, dignity, and support for victims and survivors. Enoch Pratt is partnering with House of Ruth Maryland to offer these programs.
